Sugar and spice and everything nice…
That’s what little girls are made of.
No swords or guns or camouflage
Just beads and glitter decoupage.
That’s what my days are made of.
Click-clack plastic shoes in halls,
Barbies, babies and princess dolls.
Dress that twirl and skirts for hair
Dress-ups scattered here and there.
That’s what my days are made of.
Snuggling in bed, “bee monster” fears,
Soothing broken-hearted tears.
On my lap, a book to read,
Or going for hours at full speed.
That’s my girls are made of.
Giggles and laughter, squeals of delight.
Daddy’s home! Who’s first tonight?
Bubble baths and ABC’s,
I spy games and girls that tease.
That’s what Daddy’s days are made of.
Helpers, princesses in the making.
Cookies and candies for the taking.
Snipping with scissors, paper or hair,
Coloring, painting, glue everywhere.
That’s my days are made of.
A lullaby, a kiss good night.
Ogre spray, turn out the lights.
Sweet whispers of sisters, then tired eyes.
Passing too soon, “another day in paradise.”
That’s what my days are made of.
That’s what little girls are made of.
No swords or guns or camouflage
Just beads and glitter decoupage.

Wow! That poem would make a great picture book. You're so talented.
Cute poem, Mandy. You are awesome! Isn't it the truth! Having girls is so different from boys! But so much fun! I am realizing that after having Lindsay and princesses again after so many cars and Pokemon! Fun!
